What is the IMEI code for?

The International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) is a 15-digit number that uniquely identifies each mobile phone. It can usually be found on the receipt and packaging of the mobile phone. It can also be obtained from any device by entering the key combination *#06#. Make a note of your IMEI number. The IMEI should be kept in order to be able to report the terminal as stolen to the police in the event of theft.
