Troubleshooting

1.  In the SEB, you do not have access to stored login data (e.g., password manager).
   • Write down your Switch edu-ID login credentials in advance.
   • If you are unsure whether your login details are correct, you can check or change them athttps://eduid.ch.
2. Unauthorized applications (e.g., Zoom, Teams) are automatically closed by the SEB.
   • If the SEB cannot close an application itself, a pop-up will appear with a list of programs that you must close manually.
3. If the SEB detects a prohibited process, a «red screen» will appear.
   • During the check: The supervisor can unlock the SEB.
   • During the function test: You can unlock it yourself using the «Unlock» button.

• Ensure that your device is running an SEB-compatible operating system.
• Perform any pending updates to the operating system.
• If another version of SEB is already installed on your device:
  • Uninstall this version completely.
  • Empty the recycle bin to ensure that old versions are permanently removed.

Always start your exam via the exam overview page.

OLAT exams

• On the exam overview page, click the start link for the exam you want to take.
• SEB will start automatically with the correct configuration.
• You will be redirected to the OLAT login page.

Inspera exams

• On the exam overview page, click on the start link for the exam you want to take.
• You will be redirected to the Inspera login page.
• Log in and select the exam you want to take.
• The SEB will start automatically with the correct configuration.

Screen flickering after starting SEB indicates an incompatibility between SEB and another program – often with the «OMEN Gaming Hub» application.

Solution:

• If you do not need the program: Uninstall «OMEN Gaming Hub.»
• Alternatively: Remove the program from the startup folder so that it is no longer automatically executed when the system starts.

Close the SEB immediately after each use. Do not simply close the laptop without first ending the SEB. Otherwise, this may:

• block your laptop
• cause problems the next time you start the SEB

Regularly ending the SEB

Depending on the exam settings,

• after the exam time has expired or
• after an exam has been submitted early

a link or button will be available to close the SEB. Always use this procedure whenever possible.

Closing the SEB using the shutdown button

If there is no link or button to close the SEB, you can use the shutdown button at the bottom right of the SEB.

• For exams, this action is password-protected and can only be performed by support staff or exam supervisors.
• For the function test with Inspera, use the password EXIT.
• For the function test with OLAT, no password is required.

Shutting down your laptop

If you cannot exit the SEB using the options described above, the last resort is to shut down your laptop. This method:

• may result in data loss for unsaved documents.
• may cause your laptop to freeze the next time you start the SEB.
• should only be used during the actual exam under the guidance and supervision of support staff.
