Set Initial Password via Password Letter
Receive Your Password
Students:
At the start of your studies, the UZH administration will send you a password letter as a PDF via the
UZH Application Portal .
Important: Please set your password only one day after receiving the letter.
Staff:
The password letter will be sent by post to your business address or, if none is available, to your private address.
Lecturers:
You will receive the password letter shortly before the start of the semester.
1. Set Up Multi-Factor Authentication
If you are logging in for the first time and have not yet set up multi-factor authentication (MFA), please complete this step first.
2. Change Your Initial Password
You can change your initial password as follows:
- Open it-start.uzh.ch

- Zoom
- Figure 1: Onboarding start page
- Select your role:
- Student or
- Staff
(External users and lecturers should select Staff)
- Follow the instructions to change your initial password.
Please complete the process until the very end.
