Transmission to Remote Participants

In this setup, the course or event is transmitted from a lecture hall or seminar room to remote participants, either via livestreaming or videoconference. The communication options for remote participants are limited. Livestreaming is often the best solution, as it is less complex and requires less effort in terms of preparation and implementation.

Livestreaming

With livestreaming, the event is broadcast via a website (e.g., via OLAT for courses) with a fixed video layout. The layout shows:

  • the presentation displayed on the projector in the lecture hall
  • a small camera image of the lecturer

Note: Not all rooms have a lecture hall camera.

You can use the comment function for questions, feedback, and answers. Please note that there is a delay of approximately 45 seconds between the live event and the broadcast.

Videoconference

During a video conference, the event is connected to remote participants via Zoom or Microsoft Teams. A dedicated (own) computer in the room is used for this purpose.

Technical information:

  • You can use either the computer's built-in camera or an external USB camera.
    (see AV-Geräteverleih (german))
  • Permanently installed room cameras cannot be used for video conferences.
  • Speakers use wireless microphones as usual. The sound is connected to the computer via the USB port and transmitted via Zoom or Teams.

Verbal feedback from remote participants can lead to audio feedback. We therefore recommend using the chat function in Zoom or Teams for questions.

On-site support:

The faculties are responsible for first-level support on site in the lecture halls and seminar rooms during setup, connection testing, and during the event.
