PowerPoint – Recording a Presentation with Narration

• You can create a PowerPoint presentation with spoken narration as a video and export it as an MPEG-4 or MP4 file.
• All PowerPoint versions are supported, except PowerPoint 2016 for Mac.
• If possible, use an external microphone for better audio quality.

Step-by-step instructions:

1. Open your presentation and record a slideshow with audio in PowerPoint:
   Record a slide show with narration and slide timings
2. Export the video in HD 720p (1280 × 720) quality:
   Save a presentation as a video in PowerPoint
3. Check the result by playing the video after the export.

Screen Capture Software

If you would like to use programs other than PowerPoint, use screen capture software, for example:

• Camtasia
• OBS
• QuickTime (for Mac - available free of charge)

Please consult the support documentation on the providers’ websites to familiarize yourself with the recording and export functions.

General Recommendations

• Create video clips with a maximum length of 30 minutes (technical recommendation).
• From a didactic perspective, units of no more than 10 minutes are recommended.
