IT Security Management

The University of Zurich ensures the protection of information that is of vital importance for teaching, research, and the other diverse activities of the university. The IT Security Office of the University of Zurich develops the necessary guidelines and framework conditions to ensure adequate protection mechanisms for the information technologies used.

The UZH Computer Security Incident Response Team (UZH-CSIRT) is a working group for solving specific IT security incidents such as

• new security vulnerabilities in certain applications or operating systems,
• new ways of spreading viruses,
• PCs sending spam or
• targeted attacks.

It publishes warnings about security vulnerabilities and offers solutions.

It consists of the IT security office, central IT specialists and IT officers from the institutes, who act as coordinators.
