All inter-city connections bring you into the Zurich main station of the swiss federal railways (Schweizerische Bundesbahnen SBB). From there you can take a Taxi (about Sfr. 20.-) or the public transportation with which you also will be brought there directly - it will only take a few minutes longer.

By Plane

From Zurich's Kloten airport (Flughafen) the easiest and most expensive is to take a Taxi (about SFr. 30.--).

If you have 10 to 15 Minutes more time and want to spend about 25 SFr. less, take the tramway number 10 DIRECTLY.

From the Oerlikon SBB Station by public Transport (VBZ)

you take for about SFr. 3.-- either the tramway

Number 11 to Bucheggplatz (It takes about 4 Minutes to Bucheggplatz). From here you take the bus number 72 or 69 to Milchbuck (Final destination, takes about 3 Minutes). The stop lies at the border of the campus park and signs show the way to the buildings or see Orientation on Campus.
From the stop "Sternen Oerlikon" (a two minute walk from the railway station) Number 14 to Milchbuck (It shows as final destination Triemli and takes about 7 Minutes). The stop lies at the border of the campus park and signs show the way to the buildings or see Orientation on Campus.

or during peak hours

If you have troubles with the public transport, you can call +41-44-221-1110 between 7.30 and 17.30, after some swiss german announcement and potentially some country-side music, this customer service of the public transport can provide you with information about schedules and connections.

By Car

If you come from

Basel/Bern/Geneva (West) on the highway N1, before Zurich (after the Dietikon Exit) take the "Nordumfahrung" N20 Direction St.Gallen/Schaffhausen and you will pass through a Tunnel. After about 10 kilometers you will again have the chance to head downtown (City)/Milchbuck. You will enter a tunnel and after that, there will be the exit Tierspital, Universität Irchel", you don't leave but continue for about 200 m and there will be a direct entrance to the university's parking lot (leaves to the left !). Next take the elevator to the surface and continue with Orientation on Campus.
Konstanz/Schaffhausen/St.Gallen/Winterthur (North) on the highway N1, you will directly hit the "Heizkraftwerk Aubrugg" from where you follow downtown (City)/Milchbuck as if coming from the West.
Gotthard/Chur (South) on highway N3, go until its end and then follow Schaffhausen (Transit) until Tierspital/Universität Irchel and then follow the the signs to university's underground parking lot. After taking the elevator to the surface, continue with Orientation on Campus .
Uster (East), dont exit until you hit the "Heizkraftwerk Aubrugg" from where you follow downtown (City)/Milchbuck as if coming from the West.
Rapperswil/Forch (South-East) at the Hegibachplatz, follow Freiestrasse, Rämistrasse, Universitätsstrasse, Wintherthurerstrasse and you will hit the university's underground parking lot. After taking the elevator to the surface, continue with Orientation on Campus.

Facilities on the Irchel Campus (or nearby)

Besides the research facilities there is:

the student Restaurants (MENSA) building 21 H, for 9 SFr. you get a decent lunch and early dinner (during semester until 18:30, during vacations not even). On saturdays, lunches are given in weekly alternation with the downtown main campus restaurants.
the Restaurant Neubühl, Winterthurerstr. 175, ph 01 / 363 55 14. It is situated between the parking lot elevator and the pond in the lower part of the campus park in a historical farm house. (Next to a monumental millstone artwork).
